About us
Dear visitor, welcome to the web page of the Nanocarbon group!
We are an informal assembly among the Departments of Low-Dimensional Systems (led by Prof. Martin Kalbáč) and Electrochemical Materials (head Dr Otakar Frank, groups of Dr Frank and Dr Matěj Velický) at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, as well as the group of Prof. Jana Vejpravová from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University.
We run joint projects and share experimental equipment, facilities, and, of course, our passion for nanostructured carbon!
Our research focuses on carbon-based nanomaterials (graphite, graphene, nanotubes, and nanodiamonds) as well as related low-dimensional objects such as layered transition metal dichalcogenides. Our interests span a wide range of potential applications, from electronics and mechanics to energy conversion, storage, and biomedicine.
This is the place to learn more about us. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
